Inquiry: My son was caught driving without insurance and with a not having a full licence. he only had his G1. he was issued a fine by the judge of $1500 which was reduced down from a possible $6000 fine. He has not paid the fine and had 6 mths to pay. The due date is this week. If he doesn’t pay the fine what will happen? Will their be a warrant put out for him?
Response: If the fine is unpaid, then his licence will be suspended for non-payment of fine. However, he may attend the court to file an application for extension of time to pay fines. Generally the court will grant the application so long as the Defendant has been making a reasonable effort to pay the fines.
