Inquiry: I was riding my dirt bike on the road with green plates. The officer let me off saying he would only give me a fine saying i didnt have my insurnace card. I dont have my G1 yet i wanted to know if this ticket will affect me when i go to get my g1 or insurance later

Response:  A charge of Fail To Surrender Insurance Card carries no demerit points, but does register as a conviction on your driving history.  Considering that much more severe charges could have been issued to you, this charge is a very minor offence.  The offence information will likely be tied to you despite not having applied for a driver’s licence yet.  To determine the effects of that conviction upon your insurance rates, the best source of information would be an insurance broker.  If needed, we may be reached via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
