Inquiry: i recieved a letter stating that i have two tickets from 2007, one for failure to stop and a light and one for not having proof of insurance for the vehicle i was in. i havnt heard anything about this for over 5 years and they are sending me letters saying that if i dont pay they are going to get a collection agency after me for it. but i dont even remember these, i had to phone the court house and ask what these tickets were about. is there anything that can help me? if i pay these tickets the added points will result in me losing my license again.
Response: The demerit points would have been applied at the time of conviction, not when the fines are paid. If there are fines owing to the Court, it is generally best to pay the fines to avoid a licence suspension due to unpaid fines.
