Inquiry: Got a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign in North York. $110 and I think that’s 3 points on my record. Quiet residential area, end of month, Sunday afternoon, wife and hungry crying baby in the back, maybe I didn’t stop for 3 seconds, but I stopped 5 meters after the intersection when I saw the cop. Can I get it reduced to no points or even wipe it out?
Response: The usual charge for failing to stop at a stop sign does carry 3 demerit points. Most of these charages can generally be reduced down to a lesser, generic sign charge.
