Inquiry: I received a ticket for improper stop when making a right turn at an intersection. Was not an improper stop in my opinion because i stopped at the red light behind an suv that was turning then made my turn. However..got the ticket for Christmas. Notice on ticket however that the officer wrote my address down wrong….he wrote down the wrong Municipality of where I live. Not sure why when they are supposed to be copying from your license anyways. Will this error make a difference? Are there demerit point associated with this kind of charge?
Response: The error in the address will likely have no impact on the outcome of your case. To confirm the number of demerit points tied to the offence, I would need to know the specific section of the HTA under which you have been charged. It is likely that the charge carries 2 or 3 demerit points. For more specific and accurate information, I would recommend speaking directly with one of our staff via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299. We offer a free initial consultation to review the basics of your case.
