Question: I am from Toronto, and was living in Montreal for years. I switched my Ontario licence to a Quebec licence. While in quebec i got some tickets, and my licence expired. I am now back in Toronto, and my G class licence is still valid until dec. 2010 but is cancelled due to the switch to quebec. I was told all i need to do is prove i had a valid licence in quebec and my G class licence in Ontario will be re-instated. Are Ontario and Quebec connected? Do I have to pay off the Quebec tickets before I can switch my licence back to an Ontario one?
Answer: You are legally only allowed to possess one driver’s licence at a given time. If you possess more than one licence, you may be issued a charge by police. Should your licence be suspended in one province, your licence will almost certainly be suspended in another. I would recommend contacting the MTO to confirm this information as they will have the most up-to-date information on policy.
