Question: I got a $110 ticket because my license plate light burnt out. I had no idea the license plate had a light. I looked on the internet to find traffic laws but found nothing about it. There were no demerit points taken off, but I still don\’t want to have to pay 110 bucks! Do police just make these things up! Do I have a chance of beating this? Michelle

Answer: The section number of The Highway Traffic Act that you were charged under should be written near the middle section of your ticket. If you are concerned about the offence going onto your driving history and if you have since repaired the light, there is the possibility that a Prosecutor may agree to withdraw the charge rather than proceed to trial.

Hiring a Court Agent to represent you in this case will cost more than the fine on the ticket, but would give you the best opportunity at having the charge eliminated.
