Inquiry: my son has been caught twice driving wth suspened liscence due to unpaid fines. He did not go to either court date. We are traveleing to the US will he have something come up under his passport ? Coud he have warrant for his arrest . How do we find out?
Response: Your son is facing the very real prospect of jail time. DRIVE UNDER SUSPENSION carries up to a 6 month jail term, a total maximum fine of $6,250, and a mandatory further 6 month suspension of licence per offence. If your son has not attended his court hearings, then there may be a warrant for his arrest. Unless your son attends his Court appearances or hires a Court Agent to represent him, he will have no say in defending himself against the charges and no voice in reducing the penalties assigned against him. He should contact the Court to see what has happened as a consequence of not attending his court dates. If you would like to retain our representation in these matters, we offer a no-cost initial consultation via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
