Inquiry:  hello. I missed my court date for driving with a suspended license. it was over 2 months ago. I have not recieved anything in the mail regarding the status of my license, tickets, fines, warrants, etc. what do i do? I obviously do not want to be arrested but understand that i have made my bed and must sleep in it. please, any advice would be fantastic.

Response:  Drive Under Suspension carries very serious penalties:  up to a total maximum fine of $6,250, a mandatory 6 month suspension of licence, and up to 6 months jail.  You may want to contact the Court by telephone as soon as possible to determine what has happened to your case.  One of three things may have happened.  First, the matter may have been put over to another court date and if so, you want to make sure not to miss that hearing.  Second, you may have had a warrant issued for your arrest.  Third, you may have been convicted in absence and had penalties assessed against you without any input from yourself.  These charges are relatively inexpensive to defend and you may want to speak with one of our staff about proceeding with your defence to the charge and penalties.  We offer a no-cost initial consultation via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
