Inquiry: I was charged with driving without insurance in 2011 resulting in $6200 in fines. I have been paying consistently each month since and have brought my outstanding down to half. I have received 3 extensions in the past and have recently submitted a request for another. Is there a maximum number of extensions you can receive in Ontario or is it likely I will get approved again since I have been paying in good faith? Thanks so much for your help.

Response:   Every application for an extension of time to pay fines is up to the court to decide whether or not it will be approved.  Showing that you are acting in good faith will generally help strengthen your position.
